Fashionably Problematic: Price Chopper/Market 32 ….

“I always make a list before I go to the grocery store. Sometimes I even remember to bring it with me”

Down Memory Lane …

Before there was a thought of shopping carts grocery stores and massive chains, there were small stores stocked with limited items. As for cash registers and being ranged up this was still a task as long as you had a good memory or a good shopping list because back before the first grocery store in the mid 1900s. In the eighteenth century you would give someone your list and they would get the items for you.

Increasingly in the late 18th early 19th century small grocers came about. Not grocery stores! Grocers . A grocer is defined to be a person who sells food and small household goods. You would see a few of these small businesses grouped together with different items like a flea market. Shoppers at this time didn’t have to choose to wear face masks and were able to shop for household and overall basic needs , wants freely.

The Start Up…

September 11, 1916. The first grocery store to be established, founded by Clarence Saunders in Memphis Tennessee called “ Piggly Wiggly”.

Fast forwarding to a few years later. 1973 in Schenectady NY a man named Joseph Grosberg and two cousins by the names of William and Bernard Golub founded their own grocery store. They denoted their grocery store to be named “Price Chopper”.

Price chopper is a family friendly super market that came upon and strategically planned to be a revolutionary self serviced supermarket.

FP Price Chopper/ Market 32 REVIEW

I’ve always been a family friend to the Price Chopper chain stores. As a kid watching my parents shop there with me any my siblings. Sometimes me and my brothers not attending but being called out, honks from the car.Rushing and throwing on whatever we could to help carry those tan, white and blue plastic bags. We would be excited to help put away or wait for the groceries to be put away to investigate what was all there. Checking, looking to see if the mission of getting what we wanted was completed.

Of course I love this brand! Their store distance isn’t to far out, products always in stock, bakery department, yum! Don’t feel like cooking? HA! They have cooked hot and cold meals to go. I always have a appetite for their classic shrimp and fries or fish with chips. But what really is it that draws you back into their stores? Two words that make a huge impact. Customer service.

I’ve shopped at a lot of stores. Been inside them too. Wandering and wondering. Not only does this store care about how it looks “cleanliness next to godliness”. But they also care about their customers geniunely asking if you’re finding everything okay or the smiling when a customer is asking for help. They also like to reach out to their best active shoppers for input on how to be better than before. Guess the saying “the customer is always right” is indeed true.

So when the market decided to reach out to me for my thoughts and opinions for their online focus group I was more than eager to participate in such a conducting hypothesis.

Price Chopper/ Market 32 email of gratitude.

Their customer service is so good that they have a advantage loyalty card! This card has helped me and mine during these hard times. When you buy groceries you get points added to your membership. The more points accumulated the higher your reward! Like totally, sweeeeet! And the coolest part about it all is that you get the option of saving money on your next grocery run or gas stop. Some areas in the NY state have partnered with several Sunoco’s.

Price chop with the advantage loyalty card.

Price Chopper Market 32 whatever name you choose to call it just know that this store is totally Fashionably Problematic. Problematic with stolen carts left on sides of roads to its name change, which one do I name it?! Fashionable with a new look , stocked shelves and providing self check out as well as loyalty to it’s customers.

The next time you decide to shop. Make sure you don’t think how to chop the price when on your way to Price Chopper Market 32. They’ve got your back.
